Q: In my article marketing approach and working towards creating back-links to my site(s), does it matter in my resource box whether I type out the URL versus writing which would say "come visit" my site (with the come visit being the link?)

A:This is a good question, and in fact, it matters a lot.

Anchor text or absolute URLs?

Anchor text is when a word or a few words are clickable links. For example, you often see "click here" as a clickable link. In your example, "come visit" would be an underlined clickable link. The advantage to anchor text is that it looks good to the human eye and when you include key words in the anchor text, it looks good to the search engines.

The problem is we have found is that many of the people that use articles on web sites, blogs and newsletters are not savvy enough to use the html the right way so your anchor text winds up as a dead link. An absolute url is a url that begins with http: and ends with .com or the file name. In this way, the link becomes clickable whenever it is used.

If I am using all three available links in the resource box, two out of three of my links will be absolute urls and just one will be an anchor text link. If I am using just two links I would probably use two absolute urls just to be sure. You could have one of each though. And of course if I am just using one link that link will be an absolute url.

In this way you can be certain your link(s) will work for you in your article resource box. You can check out the example below to see what I mean.

Many people new to internet marketing wonder why search engine optimization, or SEO, is so important. In explaining why, this article could be very short or very long, according to how much of the topic I wish to write on, although the answer is basically a matter of common sense.

Anybody who uses search engines to find out information, which is the vast majority of internet users, uses phrases to find the information they are seeking. These phrases, to them, best describe the information they seek. Thus, if the are looking for information on what to look for when buying a second hand car they might use the term buying second hand cars, or buying used cars, or how to buy used cars and so on. Each of these terms is commonly termed a keyword, and searching for the most used keywords, or even lesser used keywords, is big business on the internet.

If you have a website, or even just one web page, dealing with that topic, you can optimize it only for one of these keywords if you want the bets results. Many people make the mistake of trying to optimize a webpage for all the keywords they can think of, totally ignorant of the fact that if they have 20 keywords then they should have 20 web pages, each optimized for one keyword.

Some people make millions of dollars explaining to others how to find and use these keywords on their websites, even though it is historical information. Yesterdays most frequently used keyword could never be used again for the rest of the year. Let me give you an example of that.

When I was new to internet marketing, I wrote a website to sell my trivia quizzes. I run trivia quizzes in my local pub, and at that time also sold them to pubs in nearby towns and cities and wrote a book on how to go about it. I decided to advertise it online and also to sell my trivia quizzes. I paid $6,500 for a mentor from Corey Rudls Internet Marketing Center to teach me how to do it, and I was shown how to use keyword research to publicise my book.

My mentor ended up recommending I use the keyword black american history quiz since it had a very high demand and low supply: so I did. Silly me! He was Canadian, and he didnt know that the word quiz in the USA can also apply to a school exam, and the black american history quiz was in demand by American high school kids for an exam on the topic.

I spent a fortune and made zilch. That is the last time I paid for information, and I was ripped off by the late Corey Rudl and his so-called Internet Marketing Center. At least that is my experience. It was only later that I found I could have got the same information free by registering for a few newsletters from other marketers.

I ended up losing many thousands of dollars through that experience, and using the bad information I was given, and am only now making up for it. That is the importance of knowing how to use SEO in your website. Learn how to select and use proper keywords, and do not be mislead by trends or spikes due to high school exams or current news as I was.

There are techniques to use to ensure that your website gets traffic from people browsing the web for information. If you know these techniques, you can make money from any topic, or niche, even if you personally know nothing about it. I have many websites on a number of topics, each of which makes me money in many different ways. There is no reason why you should do the same.

However, to do that, you must learn how to optimize each of the pages on your website. Stop regarding the site as an entity. It is the collection of pages that is important, each of those of which has to be treated as a separate entity. Every page will be listed separately in the search engines, and you need to know how to treat each differently, and how to optimize each so that every one will be listed in the search results when somebody uses your keyword to find the information they are seeking.

Good search engine optimization is very important, and without a good understanding of SEO, your internet business will have less a chance of success.

It is quite simple really, all you need to do is find an affiliate program you like, and then promote it using free outlets such as Squidoo or Blogger. While there are millions of marketers that manage to make money without organic traffic (traffic that comes naturally from search results as opposed to paying for advertising) you will need a solid base of organic traffic.

My personal steps for using bum marketing on various products:

• Find a niche that isn't overly crowded that you can talk about.

• Find products within the niche that are the right price and quality so that they will lead to sales and therefore commissions.

• Research keywords that could be used to search for that specific product as well as general keywords that people would search for that may be willing to buy the product.

• Build a Squidoo lens or a Blogspot blog for the product giving an unbiased review (I never sell products that don't work well, I refuse to scam people for money).

• Build backlinks for the lens or blog, typically with a little bit of article marketing and purchasing a social bookmarking package from a SEO firm.

• Promote products using social networks such as Facebook and MySpace, especially MySpace.

• Watch the commissions roll in as I hit the front page of Google and Yahoo, and find ways to expand my product line using traffic from various sources.

Bum marketing or even affiliate marketing in general is not for everyone. In order for it to work, you must be patient, there is no other option. I started using bum marketing a few months back and now it is already paying large dividends for me. I'm currently a 19 year old freshman college student yet I am making enough money online to pay for my graduate school as well as a brand new car, hopefully this information will lead to your success as well. The first article can be the hardest you ever write. Trust me, I have been there and done it. It can be quite scary as you stare at an empty white space on your computer, trying to come up with your first article. It can be boring, but with discipline, it becomes easy over time. Of course, you can always your articles, but having the ability to write articles is a skill that will hold you in good stead in your Internet business.

Thats why I have written this step-by-step formula to churning out your own profit-pulling articles in record time, day after day. Print it out so you can use it as a guide whenever you feel stuck in your article writing.

1) Find a topic. Every article consists of a topic that it discusses. Without a good topic, your article is dead in the water. This should be something you know a lot about or at least have an interest in.

2) Find articles on the topic. Search Google for articles that discuss the topic you want to write about. Take down the key points that each article talks about in a separate text document.

3) Write your introductory paragraph that explains what you are going to talk about in your article.

4) Write a longer body copy using the main points in your other text document. Write them in your own words and add a few other interesting points or stories of your own to make your article unique.

5) Conclude your article with one paragraph with a summary of what you just wrote about. This ties up the article, so to speak.

What I've seen people do to increase their results from article marketing is also to break up a very long article into different parts, so there is part 1, part 2...but leaving them wanting more by having the remainder of your article on your website is a great tactic. I haven't used it myself before, but I know others are having success with it. It leaves things hanging and that always gets click-throughs.

I know Internet Marketing Strategies sounds Greek to the novice or beginning web entrepreneur, but it is not as difficult as it appears. It's not money or time it's knowledge and that is accessible all over the internet for free.

You first priority, and probably most important, is to have a rich content page that is updated frequently with fresh content. THis is very important to keep you viewers returning to your site. You also need to keep the site "sticky", meaning the viewers remain on the site more that a few seconds. Viewers are fickle, they read a few headlines and if you don't grab their interest they hit the back button and keep browsing.

Your second priority is to advertise on a pay per click basis with either google or one of the other search engines. You choose keywords for a specific search which target a specific audience for your ads. This is called Keyword Based Advertising. Click here for the link to Google's Adwords.
